Me and my father and have a new sugar house that we built last year. Last year was our first go at it and it went well. We draw off the product which isnt quite finised yet so we bring it down to the house and put in on the stove to full finish it. Im trying to find a way that we can finish the syrup right at the sugar house. Hopefully trying to find an in expensive way. I was thinking a coffee urn could work but not sure if it gets hot enough. Any suggestions would be great!

Most coffee urns only heat to about 180 degrees. finished syrup is around 219. I use a turkey frier with a valve on it.

I use a 30 cup urn to bottle syrup, but I filter right into it once finished.

Marshfield - I do about the same thing buxtonboiler does. I finish using a turkey fryer burner - but in a deep steam table pan with a valve on it. When close - I draw off into a stainless pot and bring into the kitchen stove to keep hot as we can the maple syrup. I think the Coffee Urn is used by many to keep their maple syrup hot while they can or bottle it. -----Mike-----

A propane camping stove works great.

Why not finish on the evaporator? In other words, draw off at boiling +7F, or higher, then dilute back to syrup if necessary?

It's difficult to be very accurate on some evaporators. Too easy to over cook.
