I think we just got the proper nickname for our RO machine after 8 years.. We're gonna call it Johnny - as in Cash. The reason is it's like the song "One Piece at a Time" because we're slowly replacing all the parts that way and it's costing us a lot of cash!

My brother fired up Johnny for the first time this season and after a few minutes one of the high pressure hoses from the machine to the membrane tower started leaking badly. Now we need to find a replacement part ASAP because there's a monsoooooon of sap waiting in the woods and we're not boiling 5000 gallons of raw sap! Crapola...

Luckily my brother got the part he needed from Steve Skinner's CDL store in Lanark and he was back in working order quickly.

Johnny and I have a Love-Hate relationship. He behaved himself this weekend but overall I have not been impressed with this unit. Maybe it was made on a Monday?

Maybe it was made on a Monday?

I had two cars like this in a row. The first had to have a complete brake job every 2,500-3,000 miles, and something was wrong with the transmission (automatic....you could cycle through the gears and it wouldn't engage for a few minutes....then THUNK...it would drop into gear). The second would stall out when you were decelerating and hit 40 mph (fun on the interstate off-ramp). Both spent more time at the dealer than in my garage, and both went back to the manufacturers under the Lemon Laws.
