Health Spiles,,,45* and 90* angles,,,,hate 90,,GRRR

I ran out of spiles, ran to local store and bought another 100 bag.

My first bag was the type with a 45 degree angle, very nice.

Local store only had 90 degree drop angle, no big deal, bought the and came home to install some.

Grrr,,,Grrr,,,never again will I buy 90,s,,,way harder to work with in my opinion.

Not a chance of putting the tube on after spile is in the tree with a 90, wow.

Just a vent post maybe but if you never tried the 45 degree spile, try them, world of differeance for the better.

I had a heck of a time putting drops on the 90 ones when not in the tree. So I tried putting the tap in first then the drop. Didn't even need to dip in hot water. Just wiggle in a circular motion and they went on like a breeze. Mine are Leader though.

I have also heard that the 90's restrict sap flow. I will stay with the 45's. I buy them in December to be sure I got them for the upcoming season as last year CDL couldn't produce enough to keep up with the demand from what my supplier told me.

Hey Mike,,,Thanks to you, appreciate the tip,,, I got my 45,s first from RMG.

Staff explained them to me and I went with them, wish I woud have bought 200 not 100.

That's also a smart spout you posted a picture of, I used those this year and love them! Best plastic spout I have used! A friend of mine who only uses those said they have the largest inside diameter for the size of the spout, and the 45* angle is a more direct flow to the tubing compared to the 90* and if you need to reseat them you can even after the tubing is on unlike the straight seasonals

Hey Spencer.....What is the brand of that spile?

I like the sounds of the large diameter inside.

I will probably get that type if I find out the brand / company name.

Yes those are the ones, the funny thing is the CDL ones are 5/16" where as the "IPL" ones are 19/64" size, bit they still say CDL on them
