I've got around 50 taps spread out in a village area mosty on other peoples lots. The per tap lease around here is about 50-58 cents a tap. With anywhere from 3 to 12 taps per lot that doesn't amount to much cash, what is an appropriate amount of syrup to give for tapping someones trees? How much do you give? After what little expereince I've had, here in Maine, maple syrup and steammer clams should cost twice what we currently pay. The labor and time that goes into these products is highly undervalued.
