I am creating math word problems based on sugaring....so what is the average price of a gallon of syrup in Maine this year?
I need to know this so that I can have them figure out
how many pints in a gallon
how much would it be per pint/cup/.
Thanks

I agree - about $60 retail. Wholesale maybe $50. In bulk??? Maybe $35-40

Is there something that dictates this price? Has anyone figured out the actual cost to make 1 gallon of syrup? I get asked the question quite frequently.

Sounds like fun! My son is a math teacher who also likes to keep lessons interesting. What grades do you work with? Don't forget about the rule of 86. That could be worked up into a bunch of problems re pints/qts/gallons of sap needed for syrup based on typical sap sugar content. Or how many pancakes you can cover with so much syrup if each pancake uses a set measure. That's actually a problem someone asked here last year in trying to figure out how much syrup was needed for a church pancake breakfast.
