Had 3 boils as of today. Sap has been running off and on, but no major runs. Have made just over 350L, 13% of the my crop. Total of 2700 taps, 60% hard maple and 40% soft. Hard maples are running between 2.6 and 3.1 Brix and soft maples are 1.8 to 2.2 Brix.
We have 25% of our taps, using Leaders stubby check value, 50% using CDL sani tips and another 25% using Leaders new clear check values. Sap performance is equal for all three types of spiles as of today.
Syrup is still extra light (98.4% light penetration) but has a very strong maple taste this year.
No issues with nitre sand as of yet, but still very early in the season.
