Building an oil tank arch, was wondering if the stack needs to come out of the top of the tank or can I send it out the back so I can get a bigger pan on it?
Thanks

I have seen it done both ways. Good luck. I just built one, its a lot of fun making them and using them. Make sure you at least brick it. Or it will be so hot you won't be able to stand next to it. Mine is bricked an it still gets hot!

Mine goes out the top, it can go out either way. Good luck, Lee

Here's the one I built this year. The whole thing is made from one tank. 2x6

I did the same thing psparr did, stretching the length and using the curved end from the cut off top to make the stack base. I could be off but it seems to me that having the stack opening above the pan should draw the flames along the bottom of the pan better, if the flames go that far back. if it goes straight out the back the flames may stay lower and not right on the bottom of the pans, though I may be overthinking it.
