I have a 2 x 8 evap wood fired and an ro, i usualy boil around 8 to 10 percent concentrate. Last year i was changing pans every 20 to 25 gals of syrup as the niter would build up on the bottoms, this year it felt ok with my finger after 25 gal to let it go a little longer, this morning i figured i better change it now that i had 70 gal syrup thru it, drained pan down and its clean as can be, wipe with a cloth and its shiny nothing stuck to the bottom at all, whats so much different, dont think im doing anythings different but how can it be such a change?

my experience is niter is one of those weird variables.it is either there ,or not at its chosing.it is one of the things that makes this hobby interesting though as we try to out guess things.

Glad to hear someone out there isn't having a niter problem. This year is the worse I've seen it for myself...
