Hey guys. Just replaced the recoil spring on my stihl 038 mag and now i cant get the proper pull length/slop out of the starter rope. Whats the trick? Thanks

You will need pull the rope out about half way. Then hold the rope sheave and wrap the rope around it once then let it pull the rope back in. If there is still slack repeat the steps until it isn't hanging out anymore. Don't go to tight or you will break the new spring.

Needs to be rewound, to do that just pull some of the slack rope back through the hole to form a loop , then look for slot on pulley and turn it towards the cord , when it is lined up put the cord in slot on pulley and grab that end of cord and turn it and pulley clockwise for about five or six turns then holding pulley grab the cord handle and pull slack back through hole and hold tight, then release pulley from other hand, now let cord wind back in slowly , if you sill got some slack ,repeat steps again. hope this helps.

Thanks guys got it wound up and have the good tension on the rope to take up the slack.
