So my Fuel oil tank is set to go tomorrow for the fiirst boil. My opening in the top could have been a little better. I have to mess around with the steam table pans a little bit and there's still a small crack or two between pans in a couple spots. Is this ok? Has anyone else come across this? Will there be a bunch of smoke escaping through these cracks or should I not worry about it. Just curious to hear anyone else's point of view. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It'll smoke there for a while until you get a draft going. The pans will get black there. Maybe try some of the rope that goes on a woodburner door to seal the pans or some pieces of arch blanket if you have that. I got the rope at home depot for about 8 bucks eachfor maybe ten ft pieces. any sealing should help your heat retention and draft.
