I have 8 taps at my house and 24 taps 4 miles down the road. Have been getting 5-10 gallons a day at my house and about the same down the road. I'm hoping the ones down the road start running soon, but the past 2 days I haven't really got much out of anything, not even worth dumping the buckets. Hopefully it picks up this weekend.

What a difference 20 miles makes. I'm just north of Loudon and I pulled 1/2 GPT yesterday and half that again today. Sugar content is low, but the run is definatly on up here. Hope thing improve for you, the forecast for the next two weeks looks great. Good luck.

I think we're starting slowly, which is a good thing. We got only about 1/4 or less gallons per tap yesterday and today. We just tapped another hundred, so that might help. I don't mind if it warms up slowly, because that means we won't be out of the temperature range too soon. Last year was ridiculous.

Really did not get going here until Thursday when it seems everything opened up. Collected 125 gal. yesterday and first boil today:D

Sap flow for me with 40 taps in has been much slower than I would have expected expect ally with temps creeping in or slightly above he 40's. my trees are mostly on a north slope of a hill so I am sure that must have something to do with it, but the other variable that is different for me this year is the snow pack. I am hoping that is he reason nothing is really flowing me here in Bedford, too much snow! The anticipation is killing me as a second year sugarer.

I am running some tubing and some buckets and both are not really running yet. I had a small run middle of the moth so I am sure everything works, looks like I just need to find some patience.

Sap has been slow here this week. I think we need some sun to get those trees going! Sunshine is encouraging here this morning!

Slow here too in Weare. The weather has been a bit of tease. Looks like a sunny day in the morning, then clouds up. I'm hoping that as temperatures rise and we get sunny days that we'll get more flow.

At least it gives me a chance to put more taps in...

The same poor flow here in Albany area of NY. Again no cold nights. some buckets had zero sap! Last night's temp was better and todays flow was barely OK.
Hopefully next week will be better.

Tapped about 30 trees today and I couldn't be happier. Sap was running almost a staedy stream. Could fall asleep to the pidder-padder in the buckets.

I had about a 1/2 gallon of sap on 40 taps yesterday. Maybe a gallon of sap the day before. It has been very depressing.

Got about 80 gallons from 90 gravity taps yesterday and about 60 the day before. That'll keep the Half Pint humping! Up to about 6 gallons so far. That's about half of what I made all last year.

I feel your pain, from everything I have read on the boards it sounds like its not getting cold enough at night. Hard to believe 40 degree days and 30 degree nights are causing the problem. So, I have my fingers crossed for a few 20 degree nights to hopefully break the cycle.

The overnight lows have been just about perfect but the lack of sun has kept the sap from flowing good here. The best so far was last Thursday when I got 3/4gpt. The sun came out for about an hour yesterday afternoon and the sap was coming in at about 100 gals per hour from 700 taps on vacuum. That quickly slowed to about 1/2 as much as soon as the clouds drifted back in.

The forecast for tonight is a low of 24* with a high of 44* and partly cloudy skies tomorrow. Looks like BIG SAP tomorrow if the forecast holds true.

Don't worry too much yet it's still early!

Been slow here on top of the hill in Walpole, NH. One of the neighbors two miles down the road and a lot less elevation has been swamped with sap. I have boiled twice on my 120 taps for a short time each time. The lack of sun and our temps only getting up to 35-37 degrees is keeping the trees from thawing out quick enough to run much. The sap yesterday was 2.8% so that is a big plus. Give it time as when it is ready to run, it will.:)

I wasn't getting much at all out of my 12 taps (I'm just a small time hobby guy with buckets). I added 3 more buckets Saturday, Sunday night and tonight I got 2 and 1/4 gallons each evening. That's out of 15 taps. I realize that's not a lot but for me it is, better than last year. It seems to be picking up so hopefully this weekend I can boil some down. I only have red maples and some silver (I don't tap the silvers as they don't seem to ever run for me)...maybe reds don't run sap as heavy as the sugars do? Not sure.

Reds don't run as good as sugars and not as sweet either. Some of mine won't run on gravity at all. They all run on vacuum and they make good tasting syrup.

A good day for me too, actually the best one day run so far. 20 gallons on 40 taps today, I may need some more buckets!

I am still trying to get a read on the snow storm - one minute it is missing us to the south and he next it's going to bring 6-10" of heavy wet snow, all of which will take place sometime between Wednesday and Friday. Not sure they could get any vaguer?

Congratulations, better than 1/2 gallon per tap on buckets this early in the season is a pretty respectable day in my book. Be careful, this hobby is addicting. I got back into this deal two years ago. I was layed-off from the real job so I tapped half a dozen trees for something to do. Nothing ran too well, so I tapped in a few more...and a few more...and a few more. I ended up with 30 trees tapped, and THEN the season opened up. I ended 2011 with 232 gallons of sap that I ran through a completley homemade wood stove evaporator. I think I boiled for 142 hours a day! Last year I only pulled 42 gallons total from 36 taps. This year seems to be heading somewhere in the middle. Enjoy.

Not much for me yesterday, have 40 taps out and got about 5 gallons or so. Can't wait to come home to some full buckets! Last Thursday I got quite a bit, almost all of my buckets were full so we had about 35 gallons of sap to work the kinks out of our evap.

Tapped my buckets last Saturday and gathered them for the first time yesterday. Some of them were close to overflowing and I got 100 gallons of sap from a little over 100 taps. With the sap from my tubing I had 750 gallons to boil in last night. Made over 16 gallons of syrup last night. I will know for sure tonight when I adjust the density and filter it.

Kinda slow the last few days for me but I'm up to about 20 gal of sap for the week :) Saturday look like a big day, 25 deg. tomrrow night and 45 and sunny on sat. Big sap! May beat my first week when i got 30 gal. This is my first year sugaring and I'm hooked I really enjoy it! I'm all stocked up on syrup and just sold a few jars too! I think i want to build a wood evaporator tho, I'm using too much propane lol.

I think you'll be in good shape. Even with this mornings temp of 25 degrees and 3" of snow, a quick spike of 44 degrees for a couple of hours in the afternoon netted me close to 1/2 GPT even without any sun. Tomorrow and Sunday look awesome! I thing the big run may finally be on, good luck!

I made a nice little wood evaporator for this year. It can be a bit pricey with the pans but worth it if you have access to wood. Propane is getting expensive

Mine's been slow and steady here in Brookline. I have 36 taps on tubing. Total I've gotten maybe 35 gallons. I'm a little higher up but on a South facing slope. It's sunny this morning :) I've looked at the weather coming and now that the snowfall's out of the way I'm hopeful for some good runs.

A good number of full-to-overflowing buckets and the others that have been slow were at least half-full.

Back to sugaring: I pulled 1/2 GPT yesterday and 3/4 GPT today on gravity lines. The sugar content has come up and I'm making some nice dark amber. SO much better than last year!
