Just thinking if I buy a 2x4 flat pan w/arch then if I wanted to go to a 2x6 combo pan could I just add two more feet to the arch for the new pan? Sounds simple! Don't know if fire box would need to be bigger for bigger wood. Would ramp need changed if drop flue pan was used or would I have to get raised flue?

You could certainly modify it if you wanted to down the road. You could also buy a used 2x6 with an arch when you want to upgrade and sell your unit as a complete setup as well. Have to do the math on both situations, but it might be cheaper to buy a used 2x6 evaporator than a new set of pans for your custom arch. How many taps are you planning to run? I think a lot of people outgrow their 2x4s pretty fast and start looking for something with flues. Welcome to Mapletrader, it's a great resource.

I'm very new to this but next year I'm hoping to have 50-60 taps. Was thinking ahead because from what I here is most like you said that people out grow set ups quickly!
