releaser\moisture trap

My releaser has a caged ball in the top os it. Is that a form of a moisture trap? It seems to me that is the releaser failed and it filled with sap it would push the ball up and stop the suction. I have a moisture trap inline too but is it redundant?

You need both, that one doesn't always seal tight.
