That sounds like a lot for a 2 x 4 flat pan. I can get to that but my 2 x 4 has flues. You should be able to feed that with 20 - 50 taps no problem and much more if you want to spend a lot of time boiling.

I have a 2X3 with a blower and get around 10 GPH. I have 70 trees tapped but most of them are reds and are not generous with a sap flow. I have been boiling off 25-30 gallons at night maybe 2-3 times per week. That is a 3 hour boil and works well for me. Now if I was getting 70 gallons per day if I had decent producing trees that would be a different story.

Wow I like to know how you are getting 20 to 24 gph with a 2x4 flat pan. I have sme size rig and pan and with a blower turned on half speed I get about 15 when I have attempted full speed I can go long before the stack starts to melt down. So tell me your secret? I am supporting a little over 200 taps but I have to do some all day boils to do that I say 120 be a close number.

I have a 2x3 Leader Half-Pint. With good wood, a blower, and fully bricked arch, the most I get out of it is around 7 gph. I have around 50 taps and can keep up with it boiling about 5 to 7 hours a day depending on flow. So, I'd say, at 20-24 gph you'd need 150-200 taps or more depending on how long you want to boil.

wow, that is alot of gph, i can get 15-17gph and that is pallet hardwood, blower and a glowing stack at at 1"-1 1/2" deep. that said it depends on the trees and how much time you have to boil it. if the trees are good producers 100-125 tops, unless you want to boil 14-16 hr a day. i have 300 taps but i will likely never have back to back days where i get more than 150-175-gallons per day, and this is still way to much. i am upgrading to a 30"x 8' or 3'x8' for next year. at 125 gallons at 20 gph you will have 7hr boil start to finish, letting the evap cool and drawing off. if you can boil everyday after work or you do not work it will work but you can only boil on weekends, it will tough, i will probably look to sell some sap if and when i get over run, unless i can find a bigger used evap for the right price. it sounds great to say you are going to boil for 16hrs but the reality is not much fun.i always go in over my head in most things, my father-in-law used to say i only have one gear, high,i would plow into things and keep my head down until it is done. now i(maybe laziness) have slowed done a liitle in the last couple years but my mind still goes warp speed into my projects and hobbies. you alone have to answer it yourself but most will say 100-125 taps max.
