A couple of days ago a forum member posted a great summary of approx. how many gallons of sap you'd need to make one gallon of syrup. It was broken down by % of suagr in the sap.

Something like:

40 gallons of 2% sap = 1 gallon of syrup
30 gallons of 2.5% sap etc etc etc

I can't find it. Anyone remember what thread it was in?

THe Rule of 86...take your %Brix and divide 86 with it..will tell you basically how many gallons of sap you need to make a gallon of syrup

Thanks! That'll come in handy to know. Sounds like Syrup Making 101.
