Burnt sap

Hey folks last year I know I said that we would never use the smart taps again. Well apparently never is only 10 months or so. I was talked into re using them again and this time using the bit from CDL $19.99 which lasted only 50 taps and broke off in a tree:mad: So using the bit I used last year put in another 150 taps I still do not seem to get these taps to seat all the way to the flange. What gives? in their book the pictures of the taps also hang out of the tree.Still not sold on them any ideas?

I put a few in yesterday. I think it would take a 10 pound sledge hammer to get them in to the flange. They are meant to be seated the same as ANY other tap on the market. Tap, tap, thud.......stop!

I think they are one of the better spiles on the market. They make a thud once they are seated. If seated properly they will not leak.

673 of them in so far and very few leaks, a couple leaked the first week they were in but those have seamed to seal themselves after I snuged them again. I like them, and the idea of noe a 90deg angle right is great. 90deg seams to slow the sap down.
