I have a Springtech 600 GPH and go through pre-filters like crazy. Usually I process 1700-2500 gallons at a time, but need to change filters after a rinse and a wash. The post filter pressure is usual to low to let me restart the machine.
I'm wondering if this is normal or not. I run my sap through a bag filter while loading the tank.

I just had to replace mine for the first time yesterday, after probably 5 runs or so. Doesn't seem like you should have to replace them that often this early. Later I often have to every use or so. Are you getting a good deal on filters? Atlantic RO is the best place I know of.

We had to replace our 5 micron filter after the first RO batch as well. When we shut down last night though (second batch) the output pressure was OK. I think the residue in the lines from last year may be a factor. Another suspect in my mind is the % of soft maples, and certainly it gets worse as the season goes on.

I have a lapiere 250 turbo, with one 20" prefilter. My sap goes through a bag filter first. I replace my filter cartridge every day if I've gotten over about 800 gal of sap. So it gets changed most days. Four or five bucks a day is a small price for no problems. I use a separate filter for washing, which gets stored in a pvc container I made when not in use. Here's my order of operation on a day i'm doing a soap wash. 1. concentate. 2. concentrate flush with perm. 3. put in wash filter 4. wash cycle 5. quick flush with perm 6. put in new filter cartridge 7. rinse with all perm available. 8. ready to concentrate again. Bats, if you've got FW Webb near you check with them for filters, they had very good prices last summer, I got two cases.
