I have an Alamo 100 hitched to a 5.5 electric motor. Rpm is 1150. Within 20 minutes the pump is extremely hot. When I got the pump I was told to run water on it to help cool it and I could run higher vac. I ran a 3/4 waterline onto the pump but didn't help enough. Is there a way to fix this or do I need to drop the vacuum down. I was pulling 24" of vacuum.

Lower the vac down to 19 or 20 and you wont overheat it. I ran one just like that last year and thats all i found that worked.

You need your pump set up for "flood" oil to get anywhere above 20". If it isnt already, seach the threads on here, lots of discussion about setting up vane pumps to be flooded.

the alamo 100 comes stock with 3 oil ports 2 being baring lube and the other for flooding on the intake side. if its overheating first make sure the flood side is getting enough oil.

So I think I got things figured out. It is setup with a flood system. I didn't have enough oil going into the intake. I turned up the oil and put water on the exhaust side of the pump. After an hour and a half of pulling 26" of vacuum temperature was 130 ish on the intake side and 175 ish on the exhaust side. I think that is cool enough? Still could turn the oiler up a little more, maybe that will cool it a little more. Thanks for all the input
