If I make a RO next year (homemade) and I can get my sugar content up to 6% from 2% (is that realistic) would that reduce the boiling time by 3X or am I missing a factor. Seems simple if I am not missing anything. Also, if making it at home is as easy as others have made it sound, this should be the logical next step when expanding and not necessarily jump to a larger evaporator. Thanks,
-Dave

remember rule of 86
86/2=43
86/4=21.5
86/6=14.33

so for 6% sap you need to boil 14.33 gallons of sap for 1 gallon of liquid gold. Got to love the RO world

No missing factor. 6% is a realistic figure. I used to shoot for 8% when I first got my RO. I go much higher than that now.

I just added another like to your facebook page.

Thank you guys so much. Next year I am going to go to about 150 taps with the guzzler, keep my 2X3 Mason but get a hybrid pan and make a homemade RO. I am tapping 90% reds so I will spend the next 9 months trying to find a place I could tap mostly sugars in one place for the vac. I really do appreciate your help. Thanks!

P.S. Russell-Thanks for "Liking" my page!

I am lurking here watching how all you guys make your homemade ro's. If imitation is the sincerest form of flatery, you guys should have some pretty swelled heads soon. Thank you for all the hints, tips and tricks.
