I used to help a friend many years ago, and just recently got the bug again. Picked up just 6 taps and buckets on e-bay a few months ago, and just tapped today. Plan on boiling off in a turkey fryer with propane this year, and seeing how it goes.

Good luck to all!

Hi Bob! Welcome aboard. Glad You are getting back into making Maple. I just came in from setting out pails and stumbling around in the snow. It is beautiful here today - mostly Sunny and 35F and I'm itching to boil - LOL - only no sap yet - maybe today I'll get some from the 25 I have tapped. Good Luck to You too and make some good Maple Syrup. ----Mike----

That was how I got going too- Helped a group of friends in an 860 tap operation in 1992, then got a few taps a couple years ago. Good fun!

Hey Bob - I'm in Allegany Co too, between Almond & Alfred. Where are you at? The first year for us too, 68 taps so far, planning on putting up 5 or so tomorrow. I collected about 70 gallons of sap a week ago, it's now mostly frozen solid, waiting for things to thaw a bit and run. Who knows when that will be.

A little west of Andover, just off 417. Today it's 42 deg and cloudy. Just a few drips in some buckets. 10 day forecast doesn't look very promising.
