I guess I missed the news were making Maple syrup is illegal? Ha Ha! I suspect any of the large producer would not have time or care to post info, in fact most have never been members of Mapletrader. I know some of them check this messageboard. I bumped into the owner of one of the largest operations in Highland County Thursday, he said he got 22000 gallons of sap during the last run.

Mark, I don't know about illegal, but I know it's been cold. I've watched the weather, you guys have been in the 50's I believe. Nice syrup weather. Yes, most of the big guys don't post or know about Mapletrader. May you guys have a great season!

It has been too cold for us! We are in western Highland County and it seems like we get one day every week that the temps will make it to 40 or so. Now we are looking at up to 18 inches of snow forecasted for tonight and tomorrow! Last year we had to pull our taps in the middle of March, this year maybe things will get really going in the middle of March.

I hope your right, my fear is that when the cold weather breaks we will not get many freezing nights. Cross your fingers, I'm located about one hour north of you near Petersburg, WV. Since 1998 we have been making syrup and never made it to April. During the 2000 season we made it to the last day of March. I'm sure your elevation should gain you a extra week or more.

How's things on the mountain? We are through boiling. 381 gallons. Most we have ever made in one season. Now we have to store it all.
