Can anyone give me any help on how to get the black soot of the bottom of my pan? tried really hot water and vinegar but just made a little dent in the problem.

I just use a dry brush to get the build up off.

Yep easy off oven cleaner is the way to go spray it on and leave it soak for 20 min. or so, you might have to spray it again, it sure beats scrubing

Ditto on the easy off.
I to have been trying to clean the bottom of my drop flue pan and can't get it completely clean. I have used 3 cans of easy off. I have let it soak for 24 hrs and it still won't cut it. Yesterday I had the pressure washer out. I got off 80% of it but the pressure washer won't even remove it all. 80% will have to do because I am putting the pans back on today!

Your wife knows how to get it off. She's been practicing for years. Easy-off. Works in the oven and the bottom of your pans. It is a chemical reaction and it is very slow when it's cold .... a warm pan makes a huge difference.

I used "Barkeepers Friend" and a green Scrubby... but haven't tried easy off to say what works better. Sounds like easy off with no scubbing would be better...

I used bar keepers friend and it worked awesome! A little scrubbing but not bad. The pan looks like the day I bought it again. Also a member told me to cover the pan in dawn dish soap and let it dry (the outside). Then when you go to clean it the black will just spray off. I'm definitely going to try that for the next boil.Yhanks for all of the tips. They have been very helpful.

Not sure if you tried this? When done for the night/day post draw fill pan with hot water and bit of dawn any dish soap for that matter bring to rapid boil again shut down after 10 min of boiling let stand over night knowing you have enough water in pan so not to evaporate. just some slight pressure with a green scrub pad, This has always worked for us.
