cermaic blanket insulation

Can I put 1" of cermaic insulation and then 1" fire brick over it? Will the blanket loose its insulating values if it becomes compressed by th fire brick. I have acess to a block saw and plan on cutting the FB to 1".

Fred-

you can buy what is called 1/2 blocks which are only about 1 1/4 inches wide. Save you some cutting.

Also Tile wet saw works excellent cutting the brick incase you have access to one of these.

I'm sure someone else can help on the insulation question.

That is done but usually using ceramic board instead of blanket.

I would suggest the arch board against the tin, then full bricks in the firebox, and ceramic under the flue pan.
