Think we might have oversized the tank a little bit...think she will be a little top heavy.

Unimogs are a great truck. Not sure I'd want to fill the tank and run too far though.

Love the truck, but also love learning...
Why is half full more dangerous than full?
I believe you, I just want to know why?
Thanks.

Hey Eric,
Looks good! I've been waiting for pictures. Sorry to hear about your pan but Kat had to become a real sugarmaker sometime. Hope you have your new pan in place before you get any serious sap. We have 3000 in and 3500 to go. Just agreed to another short term bush rental and had another guy come offering to sell me sap. Things might get busy up here in the North Country in the next few weeks.

half full means there is space for the liquid to start moving. when that much weight starts sloshing around things can go south in a hurry.

Why is half full more dangerous than full?
The sap slops when you come to a stop or go around corners, changing your center of gravity. Can lead to loss of control or rollovers or??????
Thanks.

The plan is to try and haul with a large beach ball inflated in the tank to take up some volume near the top of the tank. We will see how it handles that. GVW is 6000Kg or 13200 lbs. Challenge is the rig is pretty tall...don't really want to roll it over.
If we run it again next year might look in to a custom rectangular tank to sit lower in the bed. Keep this tank for permeate.
Rig will also make it in to our local 4th of July parade, where my girls will ride shotgun throwing out hard maple candies...

How much can a rig like this be had for? Minus the tank.

We called these Unimog - I grew up on a farm in Germany. There are three point kits for the front and back of them, and they are Mercedes made. Ours even had an emblem on it and ran 50 miles an hour.

Saw one on Pawn Stars awhile back. Very cool, though looked to be a VERY rough ride. The artwork on the tank looks awesome!
