Welcome to the tour of our totally homemade hobby sugarhouse here at Greyfox farm. We're a hobby-farm operation in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Our goal is to live simple out here in the North woods with a minimum of expenditure by relying on Yankee ingenuity. Our motto: "use it up, wear it out, make it due or do without." Hope you enjoy the tour.

Nice job on the sugar house. And I thought I did a lot of free-cycling on ours!!! Have a great year.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the words of encouragment. It's always seems funny to me that people who were born in the 70's and 80's seem to think that the concept of "recycling" is something new. Us farmers and homesteaders have been doing that for centuries. With a little thought, some trial and error and creativity you can usually re-purpose things for another use other than the original intended purpose. An old bed sheet gets sewn into curtains. When the curtains are old and ratty they get cut into strips and woven into rag rugs. When the rugs are old and torn they get used in the barn. To me, using a few bits of old wood and iron to make something useful is a joy unto its self. Making a tool or a part myself makes me appreciate the value of it all that much more. Any problem can be solved by throwing a pile of money at it, it's much more satisfying to do it myself for 85 cents.
