OK lets quit laughing..lol...question is since humming birds like sugar water, what would the effect
be on those little cridders if I put sap that was say 25% sugar in for food? White sugar ratio is 1 cup sugar
to 4 cups water....bird lovers, help me out and thanks.:emb:

Hmmmm. If you froze the concentrated sap in batches just large enough to fill your hummingbird feeder and then made sure you boiled each batch to kill off any bacteria prior to filling the feeder.........I wonder........

I think they'd drink it. I've seen winter birds drinking dripping sap from broken limbs. But two thoughts- that's expensive hummingbird food and if you're going to try it and use sap collected this season, how will you preserve it until the hummers show up? I'd at least freeze it and maybe even give it a boil before filling your feeders to kill off any harmful microbes. My hummers like fresh sugar solution and a clean feeder.
