Been doing this for about 6 years over an open fire, Just fired up my new half pint evaporator today got 55 gals to boil. good test batch for the first time using this.

Finished about 3pm. LIttle over a gallon of Syrup. Nice with an evaporator.

Nice on an evaporator , isnt it ? I bought a used canadian made bilodeau from a couple of great guys in RI . its 2 x 5 and I boil about 13-15 gal per hour. Ive learned to split the wood up small and it cranks out the boil . Im in Hardwick , this site is great . Great season so far and weather looks promising .

Yes it is! did the cinder block thing for years, time consuming, wood consuming. Much Much better now cant wait for more nice days.

How much time and wood did the evaporator save you?

I was Done with 50 Gals sap to finished syrup and cleaned upall in 6hrs. a few hours of time maybe 4 and wood ALOT. The fire is much more concentrated over the pan and with a normal draft thru a draft door and up a chiminey much more efficient than open burning. Right now 25 like in past, but after yesterdays success will add at least 15 to 20 more. today or tomm.

Asbury ? I live about 5 minutes from there. Originally from Annandale. I to have a half pint evaporator. God bless ya for getting that much done is 6 hours. I boil in a sugar shack with a half pint evaporator and can do 48 gal in about 9.5 10hrs including cleaning

Real super dry wood was burning really hot, with the draft door fully open

Sounds good,Not much flow to cold again today and most of the week,looks like sunday on should be good??
