Pre filter

Looking to buy pre filters and how many I need ? Can you wash them out like the Orion filter

I used to use 5 layers of pre filter. Then as one plugs, carefully remove it and try to contain as much of the sludge in the one being removed, dumping the remainder of the syrup into the next layer. Then I used to suspend the one removed to let the syrup trapped inside to drain thru the prefilter into that next layer. Yes, rinse after every use, they can be reused many times, often over a few seasons before being retired.

I do the same. Starting last year I drraw off into a ss bucket and then use 1 prefilter over a canner with a lid on it to help keep the heat in. It has made filtering/bottling a breeze
no more clogged filters, just a minimal amount of sugarsand to contend with.

Thanks ,you guys are the best,I only have a main filter and since I'm growing towards 50 some taps now and more to filter!! Thats a good thing,55 degrees after a 27 night see whats out there.55 gallons of sap yesterday!!
