I was walking round on the mountain today and walked right into a place that with little effort i can add App. 20 maple taps and maybe 26 birch. I have a 1/2" line run pretty near to these trees. I'd have to add all of maybe 30-40' of line to reach them. Now the 1/2" line I have run has less than 20 taps in it. Now the 2nd part I have plenty of tubing except its 3/4. Would it be an issue to tap into the 1/2 and extend it with the 3/4 and would the 1/2 below it handle the rest of these taps?

It should be fine your not going to have that many taps on it. Normallly you would want them the other way around bigger then smaller but sometimes you have to work with what you have.

good good...I didn't think it would be a problem. i already have the lower trees tapped I'll switch it all to 3/4 next year maybe.

For non cauum I think 1/2" is rated up to 150 taps and 3/4" 250. I would do like you said try it this year and switch it next year. The only possibly donwside is having a piece of ice get stuck where it goes to 1/2" but I don't think that will be a problem becuse it doesn't sound like you are going to have the line full. Of course if you did get ice its just a matter of it thawing.
