Small, new bucket operation here, near Alfred. Tapped 35 trees yesterday, started flowing at around 3pm. This evening collected a bit over 12 gallons of sap. Will add 20 or 25 buckets this coming weekend. This is fun stuff!

put in 75 buckets today after work, hopefully get the other 225 or so in this week after work. most of the trees where running. hoping to boil a small batch this wed or thrusday, the weather looks like we will get 1 or 2 days of runs this week and then cold for a few days. thats alright it gives you time to work of the rust from the off season, and cut firewood.

Sounds like you better cut a lot of wood with a 2x4,especially if it runs 2-3 days in a row and look forward to some long, all night long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boils
good luck

Up to 70 taps now. Started boiling Saturday but not enough sap to finish, too much of it is frozen in the tank. A disappointing run yesterday with less than a cup per tap on average. Heavy snow right now, no wind, and above freezing, and as of 9:30am sap was running (but not fast). Today might good, I'm curious to know how others do today in the southern tier.
Got done with work after dark, so I only peaked in a few buckets. Maybe a cup or two... tomorrow will be a little over freezing and cloudy, so I'm not looking for much.

Well, I ended up getting 15 gallons of sap, not bad. It was dripping hard still at 6pm. Added 5 buckets for a total of 75.

I got 60 gallons from 100 taps today. Finished off and got 1 and half gallons. As of 9pm the sap was still running. Will see what runs during the day on thursday.

Today was good, got 32 gallons from 75 taps. Not bad for a cool (~33F) snowy day.

Decent first year - 13.2 gallons for 80 taps. We're happy! ...and figuring out how to improve our methods for next year.
