I recently took the plunge and upgraded to a used but well kept 2x4 lightening Grimm with raised flues. The syrup pan is ss but the flue pan is slightly rusted english tin.

I think I'll use it as is for 1 season and then try to upgrade the flu pan to ss.

My questions are endless but I'll throw a few to the pros...

What do you think I'll get for gph evaporation??

Does anyone make welded replacement pans for this rig still???

Could I fit a drop flue in place of the raised one?

Well, any info would be greatly appreciated as always. More to come soon!! and I haven't even begun the sugar house yet.

Leader would likely still make the pan.

As far as gph, you could probably do 15gph with it and possibly a little more with good wood. 2x6 will do 25 to 30, so that gives you a good idea.

As far as going with a drop flue, you arch is likely to shallow for the flues to drop into it. Their flues are 7.5" deep, so you would need at least 8" of room between bottom of pan and flue bricks. :?
