First tapping in Cheshire

Put in 12 taps yesterday evening -- on 3-4 of the tap holes, sap was running pretty well right away. Planning on tapping another 12-16 tonight before the "Blizzard" hits. At least I'll have a bunch of snow to pack around my holding tank for when it warms up a little. Good luck this season everyone!!!

I'll slog through the snow on Sunday to put out my 45 buckets. Thought about tapping before the storm but knew my bucket lids and bags would be blown all over the place and the buckets full of snow. Looks like next week will be good though.

CTFarm - I'm a little worried about the bags and lids but I have the buckets well anchored on the ground and the drop tubes going through tight holes in the lids. Should only be minimal snow leakage, if any, through the lid. The bags, on the other hand...we'll see.
