Anyone know if there is a shut off valve for 5/16 tubing? I found a clamp shut off used for water lines in poultry feeders. I'm not sure if these will withstand vacuum or not.

There a couple approaches with brass fittings, what are you trying to accomplish?

I plan to tap the birch trees in my bush this year. Instead of running all new tubing I am going to dump right into the mainline that I have run for my maples. That being said I am going to be able to just put shut offs on most of my branch lines which are 1/2" to shut off the maple lines. I have some of the 4-way fittings tying some 5/16 lines to my mainline though and in several instances I am only using 2 of the inlet and have the other 2 capped off with a piece of 5/16 tubing between them. My hope is to utilize the 4-way fittings for both birch and maple and install a shut off on them so when its time to switch to birch i simply shut off the maple lines and tap my birch and vice versa...

Here's a cheap one, http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/5-16-in-line-valve.html but with no barbs you couldn't have an tension pulling on it. You can defintely find brass adapters to use brass valves, but it'll be pricey.

Here's a cheap one.....

Cheap valves likely won't hold vacuum.

I thought there might be something made just for syrup line. I guess not to many uses for one...
