Looking at the 10-day forecast and I'm thinking maybe next Sunday (Feb10th) might be time to pull the trigger (of the drill) for half my woods. That'll be two weeks earlier than last year for me. I'm trying out some disposable CV taps this year so HOPEFULLY I'm not starting too early.

Same here, Have been checking the long range and we look at snow this Friday the 8th then a warm up here to the high 30's. We were planning on tapping out the 25th but with the long range forecast we may jump it up to the 9th.

If next week's weather forecast holds, I'll take two days off next week and tap everything in. This is about the same time as last year and the year before. Vac. pump's all set, just need to do a few minor things in the woods. This weekend I have work to do at the SH to get it cleaned up and ready to produce high quality syrup.

Been looking at the long range and like usual it looks good then it doesn't. was planning on tapping on valentines day but not it lookslike the weather is changing again. Might hold off another week and see how things change. Would be nice if the weather didn't turn till the 23rd cause we have a lot of wood on the ground and that will take about 3 weeks of full time skidding just to clean up. Loving having a processor come in and cut/delimb/bunch for us. Turn up the heat and turn on the radio in the grapple and away we go!

I've been looking at the long range forecasts too and one day it looks good, then the next I find myself pushing it out another few days. As of tonight (depending on this storm they are predicting), I'm planning on tapping on Sunday the 10th. If that doesn't happen, will shoot for the next weekend.

I too think I am going to be waiting.... Now it does not look like we are going to break 41 any day, much different than they were saying 2 days ago....I think I can hold off another week...i think

I am the same way. I look to see if there are 3 consecutive 40 or better degree days.when I see that, I will pull the trigger. I figure the first 40 degree day I wont get anything anywyas as the trees will jsut be thawing out. I figure I will get one decent run in 3 days

I'm home today, and checking out the 10-day I'm re-thinking my start date. With my elevation and North-facing woods I'm back on track for Feb 24th. I'm glad I spent the time working on the lines the last couple of weeks instead of waiting to do it in two-plus feet of snow. The shack is ready to go, just waiting on Mother Nature.

Looks like I'm right on tap for my usual president's day weekend tapping. I've tap in Lee around valentines before, but I haven't found much of an advantage.

Looking at the long range temps again this morning -- guess I'll hold off for a little bit. Looks like we've got a couple warmer days then, more cold weather coming......

What websites do you use to get the long range forecast?

I've been following accuweather and weather.com. It's beautiful out there today, but looks like some cold weather coming for the next few days. It still is a little early. Just want to be prepared over here. :)

Was planning on taking a couple days off this week to tap, but I think it's getting pushed off until this weekend. The weather this week sure does look nice though.

Forecasters didn't do a great job this week. They had mostly marginal days this week, and now they're saying all 40's. Wishing now I was tapped in...

Well we got started in Josh's sugarbush this morning. It was dripping pretty darn good by 10 am.

Josh you are right....they messed up big time.

I am tapped now but was running around like an idiot for the last 3 days.

Day 1 35 taps in

Day 2 collected 60 gallons, put in 20 more taps

Day 3 collected 70 gallons and got the last 40 taps in.

Big (for us) boil on Friday into Saturday!!!!!

We pushed up the 400 taps and are all in on the 15th 525 total. 380 gallons on Friday and 275 on Saturday.
