Is anyone using a conductivity meter w/ their RO machines? I see that some RO's are coming with them built in. I think they're used to tell if the membranes are passing sugar or not...clean permeate will have a conductivity of 0, whereas permeate w/ sugar in it would have a reading?? Could this also be used to test if all wash soap is out of the membranes after a wash cycle?
Thanks

You could also collect some permeate, boil it down in a pot to about 10-20% of its initial volume, and check it with a good sap refractometer (if you have one).

I've done that before as well, but thinking the meter would be good for instant results.

Myron L 6P is my go to. Does pH and conductivity. And yes, you are right - it will tell you how clean your rinse water is.

Whoa! Checked the prices on those 6P's and was quite surprised.

That's a bit out of my price range. I was thinking something more like this (http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/HANNA-Tester-3WER3?Pid=search)from Grainger. Not knowing anything about conductivity meters, I wasn't sure if this would do the trick. Also not sure what the conductivity range should be. Grainger carries some others in the same price range. I have a comparable pH meter from Hannah.

I got a $ 29 meter first. It was dead at the beginning of the second season. Then got a Hanna 98130 waterproof for just under $ 130. Works like a charm. Note that you should also get a bottle of their cleaning and calibrating solutions. It does pH as well which is great for alk and acid checking in washes
The $29 meters are made for selling only. The $ 100 + meters are made to be used.
Buy your last meter first.
