View Full Version : late start
6562i thought we would have to move so i didn't build back in the summer. now as sap is flowing, i'm building my sugarshack and preparing to install 200 more tap's. i've collected 50 gallons on 22 tap's and may have to dump it before i get a chance to boil. this shack is built on concrete pilings which straddle the revine. its been a challenge by myself but i'm 'sposed to have help today.

Sweet. Never too late to start, but I suspect your sugar season will be aweful busy this year. ;)
6563this is the bottom of my revine, lowest point on my property. i hit solid rock at an average of 8" so i had to drill holes and drive rebar in.6564making progress.6565rebar between pilings and through 6"x6"x10' post into concrete...also had to boil water for concrete.6566suprisingly level !6567this rock had a natural "D" shaped hole just big enough to fit my 8" form into but the bottom of the hole had a small stream of water. i poked some rebar through to drain my hole then i stuffed a piece of tubing through and into the creavis, then poured concrete...water is still flowing through the tubing !!!
