Tapped yesterday and today-360 buckets-10 hours. I really need a helper! It looks like the weather is going to be good for a while beginning the end of next week. I have a couple of hours work cleaning up in the sugar house and rinsing out the pans. Then flush the RO, mount the collection tank in the Mule, and I will be ready. The furry little varmint said spring is just around the corner. Are we going to have a short season this year? Hope everybody has a great season!!!

I've been hard at it getting stuff ready in the camp planning to start tapping on Tuesday and Wednesday. I think it's now or never could be a short season if the ground hog is right.

Dan, good to hear from you. You should try get some short run tubing up. It sure would help on the collect time. Another week and I hope things get running well for you. Good luck!

We have 135 taps plugged in on gravity and 78 on vacuum. And have about 145 buckets to put out by next weekend. Looks like the start of it the end of this week.
Probably going to double our tap count this year.

Well 2013 is in the books. I finished boiling everything I had last night. This morning I drained the sap pan and boiled RO water in it while I kind of batch finished all of the sweet in the front pan. I bottled up about 12 gallons and used every bottle I had. Tomorrow I'll post year end figures.

2013 end of year stats: 360 Buckets
Tapped 2-3&3
First collection 2-13
Season ended 3-29
Total sap 3978 gallons
Sap per gallon 11
Syrup bottled to date 42 gallons
Bulk syrup to bottle 18-20 gallons
I'd say it was a pretty good year. I have identified about 2 dozen trees that I won't tap in the future-they just don't produce. There are others though!
