I'm in northern Vermont, four miles from the Quebec border and I had a really nice run yesterday, boiled last night and today. Syrup is dark amber and very nice tasting. This is the second run I've had this January, but the first nice one. I'm very happy I stepped up to the plated and tapped early. And I hope February pours forth the sap so we can all forget last year.

2/2/12-got all the heavy lifting done. (4000' of 1" main) up today with help from three good friends. 20 deg. light wind, sunny, all in all a good day. Sunday we tap. 500-1000+/- virgin trees. It all begins. Scored a new friend today as well, neighbor, interested in sugaring as well and planning to set up soon. The good news is he is letting me tap some of his tree, turning my projected 1000 taps to more like 3500. Guess im praying for sap next year we can get some vacuum on this system. (yes this is all gravity) Established ground zero and ran the main, then projected the next couple mains and now have two pump stations set up. (4 cage tanks at each) hope for sun and fun!!!

sap hauler-98 4x4 2500 hd, 1979 4x4 k3500 dump, yamaha 600 grizzly

expecting 1500 taps gravity 2/3/13

As of 2/17 got about 500 tapped and another 250 drops ready to go and 18-20 more laterals to go. Ran another 700 ft of 1" main yesterday and chopped a couple cords with some friends. Still trying to see the 1000 mark before it gets too crazy.
