Arch insulation

Hello everyone im new to this forum. im also new to surgaring. this is my 2nd year and im building a wood fired arch. im using an old woodstove adding a ramp to get some more length. total size will be 18"x40" im hoping for 40-50 taps (up from 20 last year). my original idea was to increase the amoutn of fire brick for insulation but after watching some threads on here i see people using some kind of blanket or insualtion. what is it? where can i get it?

The link above is at the results of an ebay search. I recommend an inch of 8 density, with fire bricks over it in the firebox to protect it from damage. Thin bricks ( splits) are fine.

I just ordered ceramic blanket today. Looked at many websites, ebay, here at Maple Trader and the best price I found was 50Sq. Ft, 1" thick, 24 x 25 ft. . Shipping is expensive so check that before ordering, it can double almost the advertised price.

I paid $98.00 Total, shipping, taxes etc. 50 sq. ft. Was advertised I think for $61.00,,,shipping is lots extra with this stuff.

I think that is where I got mine as well but my shipping was not nearly that expensive but I think that it comes from New Jersey so not as far to ship
