Tapping in Tioga County

We have started tapping January the 18th and have a long time to go. Hopefully I have enough tapped to make alittle syrup this week. Try out the new evaporator and make sure everything else works.

Hey Scott! Got it all hooked up and Nick came down to make sure everything was hooked up and right. Then the big wigs came down from Canada and fine tuned the motors and made sure it was working like it should. Watching the air bubbles in the back pan is really neet. Sounds like a train coming in. Looks like we have a couple of days when sap should run so I hope I will be able to try this baby out. LOL Cant wait!! Keep in touch

Haven't tapped yet. Came across a sheep farmer with a 250 gal stainless tank on a trailer he uses to water his sheep. He's letting me borrow it for sap! I just ordered an evap from A &A Metal Shop over in Ulysses, a few weeks ago. I hope it comes before I REALLY need it. I also am buying two 275gal poly tanks. Need to build a stand to put one on for a holding tank before the evap.
I should have about 50 taps this year.

I just got a call from A&A Metal Shop in Ulysses...my evaporator is ready for pickup!! Psyched! Couldnt be better timing!

Got another 500+ in today. Fixed starter in sap truck, hooked up new double lines to vacuum pump. Still have to get RO and evaporator ready, and clean big tank on the hill. Hoping to have 6 guys tapping all weekend, and everything ready by Sunday night.
Rob, good luck with the new evaporator, you should stop by my place when you go to pick it up.

Thanks Mike, Hope you have a great season. I only had 4 drills going yesterday and today, so, didn't quite finish. We lack a couple hundred in the main sugarbash and haven't even been in the small bush at the farm yet. I had 6 below this morning, and the RO room was pretty cold so I decided to wait until tomorrow to get the RO setup.

Howdy Bud, I started tapping today got about 50 taps in after work today. Planning on having 1160 last years total done by dark on Monday its a 4 day weekend for me. I plan on adding on as soon as I get these all in hoping to get to 1500. I already have my new mainline ready all I need is to attach saddles, laterals, and drops and tap. Jared

Well today was COLD! I think I am still on track to be done tapping by dark tomorrow. Tomorrow's high of 34 will seem quite nice compared to todays 18' feels like 2' that wind just didn't want to quit. Maybe it will run a little tomorrow hoping Tuesday's 41' pays off.

It was a good weekend for the A &A Evaporator! Made almost 4 gallons off 150 gallons of sap! Hope this weather keeps it coming clear and sweet!

I was doing some wetland work today In Clymer twp. Off of Lad rd...lots of tubing over there.....but I noticed a lot of last years, or the year before, tubes on the ground through the woods. I would love to come clean up for anyone who wants that out of their woods just let me know.

I am guessing that would be one of Patterson's bushes in Clymer. Someone over there had like 3,000 gallons fo sap stolen.
