View Full Version : Filter Press vs Flat Filter

I am tinking of buying a filter press and was wondering if anybody knows for sure if I would loose any of the FLAVOR by using one ? Iam using flat filters right now and before that cone filters .iknow presses do a better job for clairity but dont want to loose out on any flavor loss . THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR REPLYS!!!

There is no flavor loss with a filter press!

Nor'easter, I was looking a getting a press too. How many trees do you tap? I see the hand pump in the classifieds and wonder if it would be a good tool for my small operation.

There is no flavor loss with a filter press. Probably an improvement if anything.

The hand pump press works good for up to 5 gallons of syrup. Make sure that the syrup is just under boiling so that it will pump through easier.

Thanks guys thats what i was hopeing but just had to ask .tomany taps for hand pump.Russ , you say an improvement, how so or why ?
