Can a flupan and steam-away unit be used outside of sugaring season to efficiently make large quantities of boiling hot water?
I'm building a insulated hot water storage tank and in-ground heating system, and was toying with the idea of a brickwork wood-fired boiler. Then I starting wondering; "Can an arch or evaporator be converted for boiler duty?"
The principle of this heating system would be to build a super hot fire once a day, which will bring a big insulated tank of water up to 200 F. For in-ground heating, hot water is circulated out of the tank as needed.
Since I'm not trying to evaporate anything I would close the top of the steam away unit, and have a pressure relief hole with flap, so no pressure is acting on the water levels and screwing up the flow.
