Will a portable hvac vacuum pump 6cfm work for a tubing system with 2-300 tapes

It will be better than nothing. Only problem is those pumps are usually rated at free flow and go down in cfm's very quickly as vacuum goes up. As London at it cycles the releaser you are using it should be fine.

Thanks,there are alot of these for sale from 75-$150 did'nt know if I should try one or just look at one from a milk houseI have seen the same $75 pumps for sale, and have considered getting one to put in a small cluster of trees that my neighbor has. They pull some awesome vacuum. If you can keep your tubing tight...no leaks...I dont see any reason why it wont work. Another thought....Trees do produce some gas. That's why 100 taps per CFM is reccomended.

I contacted the distributor for these pumps a while back. He said that he had been asked about using his pumps for maple before, and his reply was that these pumps are not designed to run as continuously as we in the maple world would have them.

Still, I’ve read where others are using them in smaller bushes and seem happy.

Your call. If you’ve got a hundred bucks you’re willing to gamble with…

I'm still looking at these pumps and did have that same question after looking somemore I did find the same pumps and they are rated for continuous service

I use a 4cfm jb industries hvac vacuum pump on about 100taps and it works great. just got a 300 tap bush. they make them up to 10cfm. I am pretty sure a 10 cfm one would work good on 300 taps. but has anyone used on of the bigger hvac pumps on 300 taps or so?

If you use one, be very careful of over heating and fire. Don't run it in a building. Make a simple shelter a good distance from your main structures and run a UF cable to run it (underground). Then if it catches fire you won't have lost an expensive structure. As stated above, they are not rated for continuous duty, like 24/7 or even several hours non stop.

Dairy pump will get you further. I got a 75 for $100, and its twice the size of a 73 that ran 500 taps at 26". Look around and see what you can find. Surge bb 2 would be fine, bb1 would get you around 21-22" bb2 on ebay went for around $100 2 weeks ago.
