How close can you place saddles in the mainline?

Will be installing saddles in the new mainline shortly,just wondering if there is a rule of thumb for distance between saddles so the mainline isn't compromised in cold weather,age,etc.

I don't think there is a minimum. I guess maybe if the line was older maybe it would make it weaker, but in most cases in my woods the saddles are at least 2-3 feet apart.

I have some that are only about 4-5" apart.

I do not think that there is a minimum aspecially since the hol is on top of the mailine or slightly offset and the mainlin should be more than 1/3 full of sap at any time

I'll often have multiple saddles 6" apart near the end of a mainline. I'm not aware of any minimum separation.
