Would a 24" by 12 foot ceramic blanket be enough for a 2 by 6

Not a dumb question, but we need some more info. Is this for an oil-fired arch? Or, are you covering it with brick or vice versa?

Always buy more than you think you will need. Sounds like it may be enough but close.

I have yet to see it. Its a drop flue by Patrick. At 30$a roll for shipping I don't want to buy two rolls

I just put 1" 1900 degree arch board in my 2x6 last night and it took 14 1'x3' pieces with very little waste to do the entire inside including the ash pit sides.

Yes that will be fine, exactly what I purchased for my Leader 2x6. I bought the 2" think stuff and lined the entire inside of my arch with it and I have some leftover. I got mine at:

I did a Smokey Lake 2x8 with 1 roll 2 ft x 24ft 1 inch thick. Did not do the ash pit, but did do the fire box then overlayed 1/2 inch fire brick in fire box of arch. Put brick in arch fire pit to protect the blanket from fire wood bumping! Hope this helps. If you did both side and bottom you would use 18 ft. Guess it would all boil down to how much you firebrick and if you used blanket under firebrick too. Hope I didnt make it more confuseing!
