? on a sp22

well i just picked up this sp22 w/motor pump muffler reclaimer and a tank on a stand 110v. first is i want to change it to 220i think the motor will work its old but it has the amp for both 110&220 but cant read much more 1725rpms its got 2belts w/guard . one ? on the tank its got 2 outlets one was for the sucktion the other looks like an old regulator maybe ?.
what else would you need 2 outlets for ?. the tank looks real sound w/drain on bottom that screws in and out so hope that works im going to unhook it and clean it out and incorporate it back in and use it as my moisture trap.it had alot of rust crumbs from the pipe i unhooked . plugged it in and had suction on both ports . i think i'll clean it up and use it this yr. i hope . 250 bucks not bad eh any input on this pump is appreciated pierre

The second is for a regulator. You will want to add a moisture trap with a ball to shut off vacuum if it gets full. I have had my releaser fail and fill the pump with sap.

I have one. They were made for dairy farms. The two outlets on the tank, the tank is the moisture trap, are for whatever you want. WHen we were milking cows in the 70s and 80s, we had vacuum pipes coming out of both. ...or you can use one for a vacuum regulator. At the dairy farm, we had our vacuum regulator plumbed into the pipe, not the tank. It really doesnt matter. I have been running mine at 22" for a couple years with no problems. A couple maple producers here are running theirs at 25 and 26", and having no problems with the pump. There isnt much insight to give abuot this very simple, very durable pump.

congrats on your find. Now keep your mains large, your laterals short, and less than 5 taps per lateral.

what size motor should i get? the old one isnt going to work its shot . im going 220v the old one had a 3" pulley on it could not read the hp. on it the pump has a 14" pulley dual belts

According to some Surge literature I have, the SP22 had either a 1.65 or a 1.10 horse power motor on it. The 1.65 had a 3.5" diameter pulley and the 1.10 had a 3.25" pulley.

I need to look at my motor for another guy on here. I have the original surge motor. My vacuum pump is in the woods covered with a piece of plywood. Im not going to the woods in these single digit temps. Ill go look at it in a couple days and report back here with the motor specs, pully size, and shaft size.

Not sure of the CFMs of this pump, but if you don't need max CFMs, run it with the smaller motor pulley. This will allow the pump to run cooler,and you can go higher HG with less wear and tear. I routinely run 22 HG with my SP 11 and have seen 24 on occasion because I use a gas engine throttled down. No regulator at all.

I dont know if 2hp is too big but I bought a Marathon compressor motor at TSC for 170.00 or so.

my original motor is 1.65 at 1725 rpm with the 3" pulley. I can't see a 2 hp being an issue, so long as its 1725 rpm. The sp 22's are rated for 11 cfm at 15". I keep mine running at 22", seems like it gets too hot any higher. It is inside in a heated room though, if it was outside I could likely run it higher.

It might be? Is it adjustable? I got a 3/4" brass one from mcmaster carr, set it to 22" vac and it works great.

Its really hard to get enough weight to get the vac up to 21/22 inches, i tried then bought 1 from parts depot

I used one like that for years. Take the cup right off (don't put it back) and add some more weight to get to vacuum level you want.
