Thought i show some pics on how i'am coming on my evaporator, still need to paint,ins,fire brick and some kind of preheater ???

looking great, add sap ,fire, stir and go!! looks like lots of syrup flowing!

Add a blower. I do not run any sort of grates in mine.But I think you will want a blower to really make that bad boy heat up.

That's coming along real nice. That was efficient use of the whole tank! Hopefully your grates hold up. These things get extremely hot. If you need to, consider using fire brick with holes drilled in for grates. Good job and hope your boiling soon.

Thanks for all the comments , but now i need to fix the drain spout on my pan. it leaks at the end where you open and close it .I have no idea what its made of, maybe brass . Can i just cut it off and put a new ball valve on ,so what are my options
