I found tote tanks in Salem, Mass that contained 200 proof pharm grade alcohol, they claim its a FDA grade tote. Is it safe for sap use?
cost $99.00 EA. Website- www.tropicalproducts.com

Here's some for $75 but a bit of a haul Highgate, Vt http://burlington.craigslist.org/grd/3481327028.html They don't say what was in them, I would ask. The ones in Loudon had Salt Based Preservative http://nh.craigslist.org/grq/3537368170.html

So last year I picked up barrels some had the 200 proof and some had iodine. They was happy with booth, I washed both and let them airout. The alcohol will evaporate. I actually liked the iodine ones the best, but they looked stained even after washing.

This is kinda related to the tanks, but I was wondering how hard it was to keep these tanks clean? the opening is only like 5 inches??

I cut out the small round opening-its useless. I put a 14-16" square opening in, that way I can get a mop, sponge, brush, etc. in there to clean it out. Rinsing is easier also. Also this way, when the tank is on its side, I can wriggle myself in it up to my waist and I can reach in and brush or scrub the side that is down and the tank bottom by hand. Get out, rotate it a 1/4 turn, get back in and scrub that side. Repeat until its spotless.
