View Full Version : Lubing saddle gaskets?
Who puts lubricant on saddle gaskets before installing them on mainline? I have Lapierre super saddles and it does not look like there is any way that wide nipple is going into the hole that I drill. How many people use glycerine or food grade grease?

Jason, Dave Y just installed about 450 of those. He used silicon sealant (glue) on them. I think DOW Corning 111 is a food grade lube.

I use food grade grease on the super saddle gaskets (mobil brand- from mcmaster-carr). no problems so far.

Not being a jerk, but do you have the right drill bit? There are 2 sizes of nipples on the super saddle. 3/8" and 31/64".
I use the 31/64 bit and have almost 1500 super saddles in my woods. I have never used any type of lube on my gaskets and have never had a leak. I do use pliers to make sure the straps are tight and then I wire tie all my saddles.
