I am building a new arch this year. It is 2x7 but will hold a 2x6 pan the last foot is going to be for the stack. I have built the frame from 2x2x3/16 angle and am going to fill in the sides with 22 gauge mirror stainless. I got 4x8 sheets from the local scrap yard in perfect shape for $70 so i bought every last one. My question is how to you guys attach the sides to the frame. I thought about riveting then I thought about just tacking it. Also do you guys run any seal between the frame and sheet metal. I am gonna arch blanket and fire brick dont know if that will be enought to keep smoke from leaking or not. Thanks guys for the help. I will post some pics soon.

Thanks. Did you use steel or aluminum rivets. I found stainless rivets but they are pretty pricey.

Get SS rivets, you don't want nice sides held on by rusted rivets. Aluminum is a poor choice too for SS.

I drilled holes and used self drilling screws from the inside . I ground the part of the screw that went all the way through the angle flush with the surface .

I Made this one last year. It was 2x3 on the pan and 10 inches longer for the stack. Used self drilling/tapping screws on the sides. 6355
